Nellie enjoys a host of multi-faceted interests in addition to her love of teaching. Performing arts and textile arts tap into her creative, artistic side, and her practice of mindfulness keeps her rooted in the present. Nellie loves hiking, botany, and farming - interests that align ideally with the Riley community.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UMass at Amherst and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Mount Holyoke College. Nellie was also part of a year-long study-abroad consortium in Santiago, Chile, where she further honed her Spanish-speaking skills.
Nellie most recently worked at the Roberts Field School in Brooklyn where she was a co-lead teacher, lead after school teacher, and field assistant. Her experience prior runs the gamut from Art Squad Director at the Fayerweather Summer Arts program in Cambridge to a Learning Garden Educator for teens at Waltham Fields Community Farm.
Nellie enjoys volunteer work, leading discussions around social justice, and teaching jump rope games to her students!
