Early Childhood Assistant Teacher
Riley School is seeking a skilled and energetic educator for our Early Childhood toddler program for 2- and 3-year-olds. This is a childcare program licensed through the state of Maine.
Our educators provide an enriching and nurturing environment that supports social and emotional development that will further the skills and foundation for learning. Ideal candidates enjoy being outdoors and have a strong background in teaching young children. This current position is part-time at 3 days per week and has the potential to become a full-time Lead Teacher position starting with the '26-27 school year for the right person.
The successful candidate will:
have worked for a minimum of 3 years with children under the age of 5
be credentialed by the state of Maine
be current on First Aid and CPR certification, or willing to do so upon hiring
be able to provide college transcripts demonstrating relevant coursework in Early Childhood education
pass a background check and fingerprinting
be comfortable changing diapers and assisting with positive-reinforcement toilet training for toddlers
be comfortable meeting all health and safety requirements of the state of Maine, as well as those of the school
have a love and appreciation for young children and their development
approach caring for children with patience, warmth, and understanding
help our students learn to use their words, share, and care for one another
work with children on the beginning skills around color, letter, and number recognition; handwriting; learning about our natural world; and much more.
Requirements:
Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field
Minimum of three years experience working with young children
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or complete training prior to beginning work)
As a licensed childcare program, all faculty interacting with toddlers in our program must be fully vaccinated.
Salary is based on experience and certifications.

ED TECH II
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable part-time Educational Technician II to join our team and support students ages 6–14 in a positive and creative learning environment.
About the Role:
As an Ed Tech II, you will support students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships with children, encouraging growth, and being part of a collaborative school community.
Responsibilities Include:
Supporting students individually and in small groups
Assisting with classroom instruction and learning activities
Implementing behavior and learning plans under teacher guidance
Helping create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment
Communicating effectively with teachers, staff, and families
Qualifications:
Valid Maine Ed Tech II certification (required)
Experience working with children ages 6–14 preferred
Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude
Strong communication and teamwork skills

As a small non-profit, Riley School does not currently offer benefits such as health insurance or retirement matching. However, we offer a significant amount of paid time off for full-time faculty, and teaching summer camp is always an option for faculty interested in earning additional income.
