Wade Acres

Welcome to Wade Acres at The Riley School.

The program is designed to welcome our youngest children to the Riley campus. Children ages 2 - 4 years are supported to make an individually and developmentally appropriate transition to the full time Lower School. Wade Acres provides an enriching and nurturing environment that supports their social and emotional development while they acquire the skills and foundation for further learning.

Engaging lifelong learners from the very beginning...

Wonder, Adventure, Discovery, Exploration.

We at Wade Acres believe that play is the "work" of children, and there is a fundamental place in our curriculum for this approach to supporting learning. Children are encouraged and supported to test out, question, and verify their own beliefs or ideas as they construct their knowledge about the world. Stories, dramatic play, music, yoga, blocks, painting, and multi-sensory experience with clay, water, sand and nature walks are woven into the day.

These youngest children will spend a great deal of time outdoors and have a carefully designed, self-contained space and garden of their own. The program will take advantage of the music and theatre spaces, the library, gardens and meadows on the Riley campus.

Our transitional program is for four year olds who will begin to spend their afternoons with our Lower School Facilitator. During this time, the children will be integrated into mixed-age classes such as Drama, Art, and Music as well as foundational classes depending upon the schedule.
