Leah is passionate about making science both engaging and understandable for her students. She holds a Master’s degree in Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Geosciences, having completed additional coursework in Biology. Leah taught 8th-grade Chemistry and Physics at Camden-Rockport Middle School.
Leah has led student trips to Costa Rica, where the group immersed themselves in exploring diverse ecosystems. She also served as a teaching assistant for an ecosystem field study course in Mexico, which allowed her to work closely with students in a hands-on, field-based setting.
Outside of her teaching role, Leah has organized and led summer camps where students enjoyed activities such as canoeing, hiking, and rock climbing, all while integrating environmental science lessons. Leah finds tremendous reward in seeing her students connect with nature and learn through adventure.
Leah is also an avid hiker, artist, reader, cook, kayaker/paddleboarder, and world traveler. These interests keep her curious and inspired, and she loves bringing that enthusiasm into her teaching. At home, Leah shares her space with her husband, their two dogs, and two cats, who keep things lively and fun!
Leah is excited to share her love for science and exploration with the Riley community and looks forward to the adventures ahead.
